While no vinyl plank flooring is completely scratch-proof, Mr. Plank does carry vinyl plank products that have a scratch-resistant surface. If you choose to not purchase scratch-resistant vinyl plank, we recommend keeping your pet’s nails trimmed short to avoid visible scratches on your floor.

With furniture sliders or pads, you should be able to place heavy appliances and furniture on your vinyl plank flooring without scratching or damaging your floor. However, you should avoid installing appliances over loose laid sheet vinyl as that could cause damage to the floor.

Although most vinyl plank flooring will not expand and contract like other flooring types we still recommend leaving a small expansion gap around the perimeter of your vinyl plank flooring for extreme temperature changes.

Vinyl plank flooring is not recommended for outdoor installation, even though Mr. Plank does carry waterproof and water-resistant vinyl. This is because direct UV rays from the sun can cause the vinyl plank flooring to fade and damage over time.

Float vinyl plank flooring is a great choice for bathrooms, kitchens, laundry rooms, and bedrooms. If you are laying floors in a large and expansive area, a glue-down flooring application can provide more durability.

Vinyl plank flooring is waterproof, however, underlayment serves several functions including sound deadening, softening the feel of the floor underfoot, and can also act as a moisture barrier.
